Brook's College & Children's Hospital

Karina: A visit to Brook's College and the Children's Hospital nearby. We were given a grand tour of the pediatrics floor. They call the procedure room "the theatre", a code name used in order not to scare the children. Bernie Bear is a tool they use to explain procedures to the children. The stuffed animal has zippers that unlock stuffed animal organs and bones...so cool. They use biodegradable materials, such as cardboard, for their emesis basins and bed pans. They have a compressor machine to dispose of biodegradable supplies.

Enjoying Oxford

Some of the ladies from LA campus.Exploring New College.
A walk along Thames River, Hertford College Graduate Center in the distance.
Walking home from Cowley Road near Magdalen College I think.

Coca Cola Differences

American Diet Coke has more Sodium! USA Diet Coke =40mg Sodium. UK Diet Coke=10mg Sodium.

Water

Karina: I noticed some differences in bottled water! All bottled water includes essential minerals. I haven't drank or seen any bottles of water that don't include them. See breakdown and pH above. The locals often drink the tap water, and recommend to do so. I must say the tap tastes good here.

Rich Super market

Karina: The Produce at Harrod's is picture perfect, artfully displayed and very expensive. Tomatoes £6.99 per kg ( $6 per lb.). Cabbage and fennel imported from France.

Rich Super market

Karina: I visited Harrod's in London. Harrod's is a massive shopping center, it has a whole floor (called the "food market") dedicated to gourmet ingredients, high quality produce, and a fine dining food court. I saw black truffles, hand made chocolate, picture perfect organic fruits and veggies, exotic pastries, imported cheeses, fresh seafood, and many other things that were too beautiful too eat!

Hello Oxford.

Hi my name is Karina Sadoyan, I am from the LA campus. I am completely in love with all that Oxford has to offer. It is a beautiful, historic city. I am adapting to the Oxford lifestyle, which consists of walking at LEAST 3 miles daily. I find myself much hungrier than usual! This is because the activity level is much higher for residents, the intake requirement naturally increases as well. Meals are scheduled differently here as well. A large breakfast, a very large lunch (like our dinner), and an afternoon tea (snack/much smaller meal) replaces our typical dinner.
